Donald Trump has been the most divisive Republican presidential nominee in the party’s modern history. It seems like the Republican establishment hates him almost as much as the Democrats. While many conservatives support Trump, many do not. These prominent conservatives have all gone on record as opposing him.
Bill Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard, is one of the flag bearers of the Republican anti-Trump movement. He’s a proponent (or at least was a proponent) of running a dark horse third candidate to oppose Trump, though at this point that seems about as plausible as Obama being given a third term. Kristol named Senator Ben Sasse as a possible pick.
About Trump, Kristol said “I just don’t think he has the character to be president of the United States. It’s beyond any particular issue I disagree with him on, or who he picks as VP or something.”
When Mike Tyson gave Trump his endorsement, Kristol said Trump “likes rapists.”
